Italian Drunken Noodles

Serves: 3

Author: Sweta, @thetableofspice

"This recipe is inspired by the original drunken noodles, now we've all had them before (drunk or not) these noodles are lip smacking good! The blends of peppers and onions, Parmesan cheese, spicy notes from the calabrian chili paste and the roasted garlic chicken sausage, seriously makes this noodle dish an A + + in my books! You can make this after a night out or simply for date night in (like I do). Pair it with a nice glass of white or red wine and enjoy this delicious savory pasta dish. "

Ingredients

8-10 oz cooked pasta of choice

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 package al fresco Roasted Garlic Chicken Sausage

1 small white onion, sliced

1 small bell pepper, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced or grated

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp calabrian chili paste

1 tbsp tomato paste

1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup parmesan cheese

salt & pepper to taste

Optional: chopped basil or parsley for garnish

Directions:

  • 1In a skillet over medium high heat, add the butter and olive oil. Next add the al fresco chicken sausage, I took the casing off and used my spatula to break it down into smaller pieces.
  • 2Next add the onions and peppers, cook this for 4 mins until they're translucent. Into the pan add the soy sauce and minced garlic. Cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  • 3Add the calabrian chili and tomato paste, mix it until it's well incorporated and add in the heavy whipping cream. Bring this to a low simmer and add in 1/4 of the parmesan cheese. Take off the heat and serve immediately. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil and enjoy!
